The building steps in response to the site, a north - sloping drumlin, is organised around a south-west facing foyer and external court. The heart of the scheme is the social area - an elongated foyer with a long glazed screen onto the sheltered external court. The spatial fix in this space is the ramp and its associated exposed aggregate concrete wall leading through a large pivot door to the lecture room. This large room has light from the north and west and large north facing roof lantern. Materials are brick, cedar render and metal sheeting. Internally plywood is used as a visual and tactile device to connect entrance, ramp and large pivot lecture room door.
