Shandon Bridge

Cork City Centre

McGarry Ní Éanaigh Architects

Conceived as a visual leap over water between Shandon and Cornmarket, its structure in steel, cast, plate, tube, and deck in timber, designed in such a fashion by resolving the difference in quay level heights to welcome all north / south travellers at this point in the city irrespective of their mobility to cross over the Lee on its gently tilting timber deck by day and by night lit by the indirect glow from its bridge ends and onto its timber surface.
